Design Tips That Can Make Your Small Bathroom Look A Lot Better

Posted on

Super small bathrooms are not fun. They are very hard to manage and it never seems to be enough space for everything that you want to put to them. Countless challenges appear for the regular homeowners, like having clearance for showers, lack of spaces to store towels and even respecting building codes. Fortunately, a smaller bathroom is definitely better than no bathroom and there are things you can do to take full advantage of the space you have.

If your bathroom is extra small, here are some design tips to help you make the most of the space you have.

Replace The Sink With A Corner Model

There are so many situations in which even a really small pedestal sink disrupts the limited traffic space available in the bathroom. This is why the corner sink is a wonderful choice and it works so much better than the regular arrangement with the sink in front of the shower stall. Opening your shower door often creates weird space conditions but the corner sink might give you the extra space needed to deal with this problem.

We should also add that there are different types of sinks you can install. See which one helps in your bathroom. For instance, some people prefer the round model, which is a great choice since it reduces the possibility of bumping into corners.

Use Shower Curtains

Consider installing a shower curtain, one that can easily move around. This is a great space saver as it replaces the rather bulky glass doors that are usually in place. A shower-tub combo of an adequate size is easy to find. Consider those that have a tub with a length of around 60 inches and add shower curtains to save space.

Paint Your Bathroom White

While modern bathrooms can commonly be found in basically any color scheme imaginable, sticking to white is a wonderful option when space is limited. This is true for vanities, walls, ceilings and even flooring. The reason behind the choice is that white makes spaces look larger. If you can take advantage of natural light, the effect is even higher.

Speaking about tricks, another one to consider is the use of larger scale patterns. This tricks the eye and makes the space seem expanded. You still have the exact same square footage but your bathroom will instantly feel a lot bigger.

Float A Vanity

Visually helping your bathroom to appear bigger is something that instantly comes to mind but you can also take some actions. Mounting your vanity at a height, above the floor, is great since it frees up space you can use to store some smaller items.

Expand Your Mirror

Even in the tiniest of bathrooms we see mirrors being used. They are necessary and they do allow light to be reflected so that the space seems to be larger. At the same time, the more mirror space you have, the better! This is why you should have a mirror that stretches well across your wall. Do not stick just to the vanity.
