Springtime in the United Kingdom, a time when people start to dream about summer sunshine, signified by the blossoming trees, the sprouting daffodils, the new cricket season just around the corner and a chance to finally put away the winter coat in favour of the shorts and t-shirts.

In addition to this, it’s also a time when people start to think about the traditional spring cleaning; giving their homes a new lease of life whether that involves a lick of paint on the walls, some new furniture or a complete overhaul from top to bottom which, of course, all depends on your ambition and (most importantly), your budget. It’s easy to get carried away in the early days of Spring, walking to work without a coat and getting caught in a downpour being one of the obvious examples; but with your interiors you don’t have to worry about the rain you just have to focus on getting the design right so that you feel at home and happy with your surroundings again after a long, cold winter and that’s the idea behind the FADs Spring Restyle campaign.

The contemporary furniture retailers are encouraging people to get involved in a competition to build a board on the photo sharing platform Pinterest with the hashtag #FADSSpringRestyle and their favourite will win a £100 voucher to put towards their own Spring restyle at home which will help to keep the costs of their revamp down, and provide great fun and inspiration along the way.

Of course, interior design doesn’t have to cost the earth. You don’t need to completely strip your rooms back to the bare walls to start again; it can be as simple as putting up a new mirror to change the feel of the room or bringing in some new lighting to brighten up the darker areas. In the bedroom, for example, you might be looking for extra storage space to help with the de-cluttering and this could be your chance to fit the built-in wardrobes you’ve always wanted, maybe even with sliding mirrored doors that will help you to see how you look before you leave the house, put your clothes away and free up valuable floor and wall space to make your bedroom seem larger without having to knock through any walls. Bonus!

It’s often said in the interior design world that less is more, and this is a great rule of thumb for anyone looking to make their first steps into the design world. Sure, complete overhauls can give a room that ‘wow’ factor when you or your guests walk in soon after the revamp, but the smallest touches can be just as effective and you can always make further edits. If you splash your budget in one go, you may have to learn to love it!
